Product Description
Making math fun and inquiry based for my 5th graders is my goal. With this fun, printable, hands on problem solving activity, the CCSSS standards for operations and algebraic thinking are beautifully tied in with problem solving inquiries related to the brand new year of 2014.
This 28 page packet contains several activities and games to use as you wish within your class as differentiation and rigor, whilst practicing the skills involved with algebraic thinking and interpretation. Simply copy, laminate and cut the cards.
1: Using the digits within 2014, the children have to come up with a multi-operation equation to create the answer of 2014.
2: By interpreting various numerical expressions the children will have to know their order of operations in order to solve the problem. Does it equal 2014 or not?
3:Using their knowledge of order of operations and algebraic expressions, the students will interpret word problems and convert them into numerical expressions prior to solving the problem.
Included:
32 digit cards and 16 operations cards
