Product Description
I LOVE reading aloud to my students and I know you do, too! This resource will help you make your read-alouds more engaging and purposeful. It is the first in a series of interactive read aloud plans that focuses on a specific reading element. The books in this resource all focus on story elements and have an obvious problem and solution. They are also great for practicing retelling.

There are read aloud plans to go with six books. The books are:
Knuffle Bunny: A Cautionary Tale, by Mo Willems
Andrew's Loose Tooth, by Robert Munsch
Crazy Hair Day, by Barney Saltzberg
The Monster at the End of This Book, by Jon Stone
Unlovable, by Dan Yaccarino
The Adventures of Beekle, by Dan Santat
(These books are NOT included in this resource.)

What is an interactive read aloud?
What makes an interactive read-aloud different from a regular read-aloud is that the reader stops during the story to share what s/he is thinking, and gives students the opportunity to engage in and share thinking of their own.

Each read aloud plan has
✽ an introductory question
✽ full reading plan with pre-planned stopping points and discussion
✽ vocabulary

I also included graphic organizers that can used as response sheets or follow ups to ANY of these books.

In addition, the reading plan is formatted two different ways:
➊ 2 page horizontal format with all the stopping points and discussion for the story
❷ the same stopping points and discussion but in a card format so you can easily print on cardstock, hole punch, add a metal ring and flip through the cards as you read.

Need something with a digital component? I included all the introductory slides and graphic organizers as image files so you can have your students go paperless!

☀ Not sure exactly what to do? Don't worry! I explain exactly what an interactive read aloud is and why they are a great way to improve students' reading, steps for the read aloud, how to do "turn and talk" and more! It's all spelled out for you. All you need is to grab the book, print out the reading plan and read!

Check out the preview for a FULL LOOK at EVERY page that is included!
