This activity centers around the text "Jumanji" by Chris Van Allsburg. It focuses on the skill of problem and solution. There are 5 predetermined stopped points to have students identify problems and solutions. There are many problems in this book, so this task also asks students to identify the main problem out of many. There is an after-read response that asks students to write a paragraph about potential problems that may arise in the future.

Welcome to A Real Reading Experience. I aim to give teachers the tools to provide authentic reading experiences with children through the love of picture books. Each picture book will have a focus, like inferring or characterization. The packet will come with pre-selected stopping points for teachers to stop and have students answer a question. At the end, there is a piece for students to complete a written reflection of the story. K-2 units and 3-5 units are on the way!
