This is a FUN, hands-on lesson to teach and practice procedural text! This file contains a recipe to create NO BAKE cookie bars with your class! This recipe does NOT require peanut butter!!! After carefully following the recipe as a class, your students will complete a sorting activity where they must put the steps to the recipe in order.
While the cookie bars set at room temperature, students will enjoy a comprehension lesson on "Pancakes for Breakfast" by Tomie dePaola! After "reading" the book, test your students knowledge with a Kahoot quiz or on paper (the old-fashion way)!
To wrap-up your lesson on procedural text, have your students complete the writing piece inspired by the mentor text: "How to Drive Your Sister Crazy" by Diane Z Shore!
Check to see if your library has a copy of "Pancakes for Breakfast" by Tomie dePaola and "How to Drive Your Sister Crazy" by Diane Z Shore! If they don't, you can find these stories read-aloud on YouTube!
