This is a collection of 6 templates for procedure writing in French. This work would be appropriate for Grades 2, 3, and 4 French Immersion. This is a very active and motivating unit. Students are encouraged to act out procedures to help them write important details. They teach a lesson to their peers as a summative activity. On the bottom of each activity sheet is a list of Success Criteria. There is a rubric for written work and a rubric for evaluating the lesson students teach to the class.
This product has been revised in September 2013 with the addition of the rubrics.
I have included these templates:
1) making a sandwich
2) making a disgusting or delicious recipe
3) brushing teeth
4) getting ready for school
5) explaining an obstacle course
6) a blank template
I conclude this unit by giving students the chance to play teacher. Students must teach their classmates a lesson on how to draw a picture, complete a dance routine, fold a paper airplane, etc. The last pages are made up of excerpts from my newsletter to parents, explaining the Success Criteria and the summative activity and the two rubrics mentioned above.
Students learn it’s quite a challenge to teach, to make sure their classmates understand each step and keep up, and help individual students all at the same time! It’s a rewarding, yet tough oral presentation.
** These templates need to be printed on LEGAL size paper.
