Processes that Shape Earth's Surface: Science Tasks with Otis & Flask

Science Tasks with Otis & Flask were designed by teachers, for teachers, as centers to reinforce science concepts in grades 3-6. These centers include Teacher Background information, Task Cards for each center that provide information for the student, photocopy-ready student packet pages which many include student observation sheets, data sheets, student readings, vocabulary, and assessment items. An answer key is also included.

Students simulate processes that shape Earth's surface by creating a model of a landform using sand. The Center is designed to help students recognize that changes on Earth's surface consist of both slow and rapid processes. Students also view a slide show of different types of landforms that have been eroded over time as a result of wave, wind, water, and/or glacial erosion.
