PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Class participation is worth 10 points each day that the student is present for the whole class and is actively involved. Actively involved means that the student was willing to answer questions, stayed awake, and did any work that was assigned to them during the class period. Students may make up these points if they are absent by coming in for a whole resource period/study hall and working on artwork.

Progress Critique is worth 20 points. A progress critique should take place once every week. It is recommended that there be a set day of the week that it will always take place to help the students know that they need to be prepared. In order for students to receive the 20 points they must be present for the whole critique. They must have work to be critiqued and must speak during the critique. The progress critique can be written, spoken as a whole class, or done in small group settings. Students, that are absent, must fill out the critique from on their own and then have one of their classmates look at their work and sign off that they agree with the student’s assessment of his own work. The sheet should then be turned into the teacher.

Sketchbook is worth 5 points per page. The purpose of the sketchbook is for students to explore a topic or idea. The book should be filled with drawings, photos, found objects, or writing. The sketchbook can also include more specific assignments provided by the teacher.

Digital Portfolio/ Progress Portfolio is worth 75 points each check as scheduled by the teacher which is based on the time length of projects. Students should submit their work along with their self assessment sheet, to the teacher for the teacher to assess progress, growth, and exploration in the student's’ work. At each checkpoint, all student work should also be loaded onto their digital portfolio along with a detailed written description of the process used to create the piece.

Learning Objective form: I often use this at the start of a project to be sure that students understand the reason/ WHY, behind the assignment.
