Product includes monitoring/student response forms for these skills: using context to determine meaning; summarizing; identifying cause & effect; identifying main idea & supporting details; generating questions; comparing & contrasting; making, confirming, & revising predictions; and making inferences. Copy forms for each student in your reading group. Assign various items from the different forms to complete during reading group over a period of time (such as a grading period). As you discuss and provide feedback to students, place a check to indicate each task a student completes correctly. This provides qualitative data that can be used to guide instruction. At the end of the grading period, simply add up the check marks on the ten items on each form to obtain a separate grade for each reading skill. Note: These forms have relatively large areas for student responses. If you prefer smaller print and smaller spaces for responding in order to minimize paper use, please purchase the regular version of this document.
