I believe students need a visual reminder of their behavior and choices in the younger grades. I have also found that more positives than negatives seem to get the students back on track with good choices (academically and behaviorally). I tend to move clips up a lot more than I move clips down on the chart. Students have a great sense of pride when their clip reaches the top of the chart.
Print on cardstock, laminate, and cut out each section. Using strong tape or other adhesive, connect and mount/hang as a chart. Write student names or numbers on clothespins. Each student would start the day on green, ready to learn. They could move their clip up or down throughout the day depending on behavioral and academic choices.
There are 2 different options. One option has illustrations while the other has only the words.
