PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

This is a set of 9 monthly calendars for the full months in the 2016-2017 school year (September-May). (The featured image is old!) The calendars are scaffolded, introducing a new skill each month and progressing with the development of your kindergarteners.

September: This is a completed calendar students use to identify the elements of a calendar. You could give various instructions to your class, such as: “Color the name of the month yellow.” or “Color ‘September’ yellow.” “Color the year (or ‘2015’) green.” You could ask students to locate and color specific numbers with a specific color or ask them to color the single digit numbers a certain color and double digit numbers a different color. You could ask them to color the numbers in an ABAB pattern, etc. You could ask them to color the days of the week (as a group with the same color, or each day a different color).

October: Students trace the month, the year, and the numbers with instructional dots and arrows as a guide.

November: Students trace the month, the year, and the numbers without instructional dots and arrows.

December: Students write the month, year, and numbers independently.

January: Students write the month and year independently. Then they write the numbers (much smaller this time) in the boxes at the top left of each section. From this point forward, students can begin listing school events or holidays in the appropriate boxes.

February: Students write the month and year independently. They write the numbers in the boxes at the top left of each section. They trace the days of the week.

March: Students write the month and year independently. They write the numbers in the boxes at the top left of each section. They write the days of the week (without tracing).

April: Students create their own grid by connecting pairs of color coded dots with a ruler to make horizontal and vertical lines (for example, connecting the top green dot to the bottom green dot). They write the month, year, and days of the week independently. They write small numbers (without boxes) at the top left of each box.

May: This month is the same as April except the dots are all black (not color coded).
