The Muckrakers differentiated instruction PowerPoint has two ability levels: enriched and basic. It can be used in a co-teaching situation in which you split the class. The same content is used but the enriched version goes into more detail and allows for more critical thinking. It follows the NYS 8th grade social studies curriculum but because of the different levels, it will work for high school too. It has essential questions also and many graphics and photos. The content is as follows:

• Muckrakers
• Who were the muckrakers?
• Social Ills
• Quote from Roosevelt
• What did Uptain Sinclair's "The Jungle" Expose?
• Summery of "The Jungle"
• Effects of "The Jungle"
• Ida Tarbell and the Standard Oil Company
• Effects of "The History of the Standard Oil Company"
• Jacob Riis
• Effects of "How the Other Half Lives"
• Political Muckrakers: Thomas Nast and Lincoln Seffens
• Boss Tweed
• Effects of Nast and Stephens
