PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Progressive Verb Tenses: This packet contains multiple activities for teaching students to form and use the progressive verb tenses in sentences. These tenses include the present progressive, past progressive, and future progressive verb tenses (CCSS L.4.1.B). Teaching posters, 3 worksheets, and a craftivity are included.

To begin, 4 teaching posters are included. One poster focuses on forming the present progressive verb tense, one poster focuses on correctly forming the past progressive verb tense, and another poster focuses on how to form the future progressive verb tense. An additional poster focuses on some of the unique rules related to progressive verb tenses, including how to form negative sentences, how to form questions, and how to insert adverbs correctly into sentences with the progressive verb tenses.

Next, 3 worksheets are shared. Each worksheet focuses on one of the progressive verb tenses: past, present, and future.

Finally, I created an engaging craftivity to accompany this standard. It is entitled "Progressive Verb Popsicles". Students are given four popsicles and 4 sentence starters. Students must restate the sentence in 4 ways:
1. Present Progressive (The popsicle is dripping everywhere.)
2. Past Progressive (The popsicle was dripping everywhere.)
3. Future Progressive (The popsicle will be dripping everywhere.)
4. Future Progressive Alternate Form (The popsicle is going to be dripping everywhere.)

Student-friendly craftivity directions are included so that you can place the directions under your document camera, and students can refer to them as they complete the project.

(Answer keys are also included.)

This activity packet was created to specifically address Common Core State Standard L.4.1.B: Form and use the progressive verb tenses. (e.g., I was walking, I am walking, I will be walking). (The craftivity can be used with multiple upper elementary and middle school grade levels, though.)
