Students will critique a variety of images which depict various types of communities: rural, suburban, and urban communities. Students will look at
some New York State Maps, some of which may indicate the aforementioned communities. Students will be introduced to concepts such as
background, middleground, and foreground. Students will be able to identify those concepts in both their works and the works of other. Students will
explore both the possibilities and the properties of paper and create collages based on their understandings of collage. Students will work from large
to small shapes as they gradually refine their work. Students will name their work and assist in a group critique.
