This file gives you and your class access to a site where your students will be challenged, enriched, and engaged- at the center of their own learning.
In teaching, there is always great diversity. This is especially true in math class. In a fourth grade class, you could quite possibly have from a 2nd- 6th grade range…and reaching all of those students is no easy task!
The site is a collection of various projects that have been tried and tested throughout many years of teaching. Some are content-specific, others can vary based on the topic you are teaching. Each project has been reworded to be student-friendly. If your students are careful readers, they should be able to complete the different steps of the projects on their own.
This is a live site. I have included student-friendly directions for eleven projects for grades 1-5. Projects are better suited for grades 3-5. The projects are detailed, easy to follow, and include several multimedia components. Most also include files for download that support/enhance the projects. This download also includes tech support from the author at any time via email. The site will be updated as the year progresses with new projects and videos for students to utilize.
This is a tech-based project. Student work is largely web-based: if you do not have access to at least one computer in your classroom, this may not be the project for you.
Projects can be individual, partner, small group, or whole class based. Many options and opportunities for significant teacher involvement, or little to no teacher involvement. It's all up to you!
Your students will thank you for giving them the opportunity to work on these relevant, interesting, and fun projects.
