Predicting the Future!
In this project-based integrated weather unit, students will create their own weather station as a class. They will create and understand various tools (including barometers, thermometers, anemometers, rain gauges, and radar) and use them to track the weather. Finally, they will use this knowledge to predict the upcoming weather, and produce a full report. Reports will include a written script, posters as visual aids, and will be geared to different audiences (parents, kindergarteners, sports teams, animals, etc.) to give students the opportunity to write to an audience.
This process will take place over several weeks, with students gathering real-world data to gain real-world knowledge.
This is an integrated Weather Unit, that includes 12 lessons, as well as two methods of assessment. Students will supplement the Science experiments and activities with Social Studies and Writing lessons. A rubric is included for the weather report, as well as a written test.
