Product Description

This fun project will really let students see some of the hard work teachers go through in preparing for the school year. Students assume the role of a teacher and complete a variety of tasks. Project Based Learning is a great way for students to apply a variety of math and language skills to a relevant scenario.

Concepts and skills covered in this project include:

Addition

Subtraction

Multiplication

Money

Creativity and Art

Writing

Time

Presentation Skills

This project can be completed in a few days, or over the course of a week or so. This project would also be great for independent work if you need sub plans. Here's a brief summary of the activities incuded with this project:

Day 1: Supplies, Supplies, Supplies: Students (Teachers) choose supplies for their students from several stores to get the best deals.

Day 2: A Trip to the Teacher Store: Students use a budget to choose extra items for their classrooms.

Day 3: Setting up The Classroom: Students choose a classroom theme and design a bulletin board. They also decide how to arrange the desks for 25 students along with the rest of the furniture in the classroom.

Day 4: Making a Daily Schedule: Students create their daily schedule based on specials and time requirements for different subjects.

Day 5: Writing a Welcome postcard to students: Students write a welcome postcard.

Day 7: Preparing posters for presentations: Students create a poster of their work from this project.

Day 8: Presentations: Optional presentations. (grading rubric included)
