Biome In A Box Project is an opportunity for students to demonstrate their understanding of Earth’s biomes and the interactions between biotic and abiotic factors to address the Next Generation Science Standards Disciplinary Core Idea: LS2.A “Organisms, and populations of organisms, are dependent on their environmental interactions both with other living things and with nonliving factors.” It is part of the Biomes -- 5E Unit Plan (NGSS MS-LS2-1), although it can be incorporated into any unit that addresses biomes and abiotic and biotic factors. Through this project, students are expected to read, discuss, use technology, conduct research, analyze data, and construct a model.
Disciplinary Core Idea: LS2.A.1 Organisms, and populations of organisms, are dependent on their environmental interactions both with other living things and with nonliving factors.
Science and Engineering Practices:
Developing and Using Models: Develop a model to predict and/or describe phenomena.
Systems and System Models: Models can be used for understanding and predicting the behavior of systems.
