In this PBL packet students will answer the question: How can we run a successful Rice Krispie cart? This project works best if the students actually get to have a rice krispie cart (a rolling cart from school). All of the recipes included can be made in the microwave! There is also a parent note asking for supplies! This project is great for higher 2nd grade students and third grade!
In order to do this, students will have to do the following:
*Brainstorm what they need to do?
*Figure out how many servings each recipe makes and then seeing how many servings we would have if we double or triple the recipe. (Multiplication or repeated addition)
*Figure out how much of each ingredient we will need based on the number of times we decide we will need to make each recipe. (Multiplication or repeated addition)
*Decide the price for each item. (Supply and Demand)
* Practice adding prices of our items and subtracting totals in story problems. (Addition, Subtraction, and Story Problems)
* Make a poster for our stand using a budget. (Adding)
*Optional: Decide how to cut the pan of rice krispies to make the number of servings. (Arrays)
*Finally, students will analyze how they think their rice krispie cart went and how they would change it next time.
