Project-based learning (PBL), Help your students practice decimals, measurement, fractions, and graphing ordered pairs with this quality project-based learning for grades 4, 5, and 6. It includes a teacher guide walking you through each step.

This is a great project for the weeks close to Valentine's Day or any other day of the year!

It's every kid's dream to own a candy store! Kids will first "build" and name their candy store. After that, they get to choose what candy to put in it! They will add candy displays to their store using the dimensions provided (in 1/2" scale). They will also calculate the cost of each display and their profit. The kids get to choose every aspect of their store, including their sales prices, which allows for critical thinking skill development! During this sweet project, kids will practice graphing points on a coordinate plane, fractions (halves), and decimal operations.

This project-based learning activity is VERY HIGH INTEREST and spans 1-2 weeks. Students will answer the driving question: What Math skills do I need to create and run a business? It's Common Core aligned for Grade 5 and can be differentiated for many different ability levels.

This resource includes directions on what to do before beginning, connections to other subjects, technology integration, discussion points, and the math process.
