Students engage in Problem and Project Based Learning while learning about describing the properties of rocks and minerals! Great way to teach descriptive writing and properties of rocks at the same time! Super engaging project where students become secret agents!

Students must write a detailed description of a rock based on the rock’s properties. The description must be detailed enough for other agents (students) to identify the rock in question. Students will use the properties of color, size, luster, pattern, and texture. Will students rise to the challenge and thwart the villains? Will the rocks be transported to the National Depository safely? PBL has never been so easy and fun to teach!

This pack includes:

Posters (or Projections) to Introduce the Problem
Guided Handouts for Writing a Description
Certificate of Completion
Student and Teacher Checklist (can be graded)
Rock Sample Card (A-D)
Rock Response Cards for Students (Is it A, B, C, D?)
