This posting is for a sixteen page lesson plan for conducting a unit on the scientific method. It is a project based learning lesson plan, meaning students are provided a driving question and must work in teams to examine some aspect of consumerism. I use this lesson for a biology class, but it will work great for any science class at either the middle or high school level. Included are all handouts, a writing worksheet to go with the lab project, teacher instructions with photos and rubrics for all aspects of the assignment. I have also included a suggested schedule, learning goals list as well as suggested homework lists. I love this lesson because it is highly interactive, and culminates in a symposium style presentation that allows students to talk about their discoveries.
