This project covers math standards related to both exponents & radicals. Students choose one task from each row of the matrix: one from exponents and one from radicals. Each activity is aligned with a specific multiple intelligence. Each activity is to be wholly original and unique. This project gives students an opportunity to show their mastery of: the rules of exponents and simplifying radicals. Students do not need to have prior experience or knowledge of multiple intelligences to receive the full benefit of this project.
Students choose one of eight exponents tasks developed to show mastery of the five rules of exponents. Students will then choose one of eight tasks to show their proficiency simplifying radicals. The project culminates with students presenting their creations in a sort of round robin that can be as simple or elaborate as time will allow. Teachers can incorporate technology into the project or it can be done completely tech-free. Students develop a deeper understanding of exponents and radicals through this creative project that teaches them almost as much about how they learn as it does about what they have learned. Great meta-cognitive activities included in this project!
