This resource is for a fun group project for middle schoolers to do for History/World History course. It focuses on the Gods and Goddesses of Ancient Egypt, and requires them to work in small groups to research a particular God, and then create both a slideshow presentation and poster for the God/Goddess.
The download includes a project handout, which includes a one-page summary of the assignment, two simple rubrics for each component, a brief list of 15 Gods/Goddesses, and an example powerpoint to be shared/reviewed with the students. All of these files are editable to fit your needs.
First, you'll want to review the project summary with your students, so that they are clear on the requirements and expectations. Take some time to review the rubrics as well (again - these are editable files that you can easily change for your class needs). Then, you'll want to pair them up or put them in small groups, and each group will draw a God/Goddesses at random. I show them the Osiris example just as a reference to get them started, and give them an idea of what the slideshow should look like. Theirs doesn't have to be exactly like the example. Since the Osiris is included as an example, his name is not on the list of Gods/Goddesses.
Usually this project takes a couple of days for them to complete, and in my experience students have seemed to enjoy it. It allows them to research these Gods/Goddesses on their own, work together, and be artistic.
