"The Lowell Sun, a local newspaper, wants you to write about life as a "Mill Girl". They have requested you and two fellow mill girls create an informational advertisement or brochure that details life as a “Mill Girl”. The Lowell Sun will publish your advertisements or brochures and distribute it to future “Mill Girls” and their families."
For this project, students work cooperatively in small groups to research three aspects of a Lowell Mill girl's life (working conditions, living conditions, and leisure/recreation activities). Students must create an informational advertisement or a brochure detailing their research.
Project description, graphic organizer/outline, and rubric included.
This assignment was adapted from an activity on the National First Ladies' Library website.
