Product Description

Are you teaching IB learners for the first time and you must come up with a design project idea, but you don't know where to start? Here is the solution! This document contains two ready to print project workbooks (Design workbooks) and each of them features a creative project idea. I know it is not easy to be new to the IB program, so I've made this resource that can be of great use to new IB teachers. Use this Project (Design) Workbook in your class and nourish your students' creative mind. No preparation, no hassle!

The workbook is mainly for IB (International Baccalaureate) learners, but, it can be used in the following subjects: Multimedia/Design, ESL, EFL, entrepreneurship, etc.

So, it is great for Project-Based learning, students in the IB program, interdisciplinary project or cooperative learning activities.

***2018 Update: Evaluation criteria and assessment rubric slightly changed (Project 2).

What you get?

1. Two copies of My design workbook - IB Design and Interdisciplinarity Workbook (Project workbook for your students)

2. Each workbook includes a creative project idea that your students will certainly enjoy.

a. Project 1: Environmental Consciousness

b. Project 2: Teen Dilemma – Career Guide

The document follows the Design cycle (IB program):

1. Inquiring and analyzing

2. Developing ideas

3. Creating the solution

4. Assessment (evaluation of the final product)

If you do not teach students in the IB program, you can still use these creative project ideas as interdisciplinary projects: Multimedia and ELA/ESL, Technology and Visual Arts, for example. Or simply use this document as a Project-Based learning activity in your ESL or ELA class.

The final project report could be a written production that evaluates writing skills in both ESL and ELL. In addition, you may also evaluate students' answers in the Design Workbook because they need to answer questions and write quite enough.

It is a rewarding student-centered project that lets students use their creativity. It can also be used to develop students` entrepreneurship skills.

A sample of the final products made by my students can be found in the preview document.

The document is for grade 9-12 students, however, it might be useful for learners below or above these grade levels. Please, check out the preview to make sure this resource is appropriate for your students.

***Other useful information about this document:

*Design specifications are already given to students.

*The estimated time frame for completing each project is 1 month if your students work only on this activity. It can be more or less, depending on where and how fast your students work or when you expect your students to finish it.

*It is your choice to let your students work individually, in pairs or teams. However, these projects have been planned to be carried out in pairs or teams.

Assessment:

There is also an assessment form that evaluates the final product taking into account the design specifications given to students at the beginning of the project. The evaluation form is on a scale of 1-5, totaling 60 points in the case of the first project, and 20 points in the case of the second project. Of course, you can use your own evaluation criteria.

As for the IB evaluation criteria, you should use the Design and Interdisciplinarity evaluation criteria given by your IB project coordinator in your school because these IB documents change over time (they are updated).
