Brief overview of Explorer of the Millennium PBL premise
Everyone is talking about which explorer will be named Explorer of the Millennium. Which explorer did the most? Who was the best of the best? Online voting is underway and in three days’ time the winner of the Explorer of the Millennium contest will be announced. Competition has been fierce with rumors running rampant and harsh words exchanged. Unofficial sources put Columbus in the lead, possibly because he is the best known. Will you and your ad agency successfully promote your explorer?
Mystery activity can be used as a stand-alone activity or mystery party game. It’s materials include character dossiers for 10 guests, a director’s pack with complete instructions, and the clues. Characters included: Neil Armstrong, Juan Ponce de Leon, Charles Darwin, Nellie Bly, Helen Thayer, Valentina Vladimirovna Tereshkova, Sacagawea, Lady Hester Lucy Stanhope, Robert La Salle and Jacques-Yves Cousteau.
Project based learning combines authentic research with collaboration, reflection, and individual decision-making. Students gain by both the process and product which are linked to real-world situations that they will face in the work force or their lives. Students can voice their personal interests, concerns, or issues while using and expanding their creativity. This project will allow for differentiation of product and pacing, as well as tiering if desired.
