Here is a two-part ready-to-print and hand-out French project for Grade 6 and up Core French.
To give students a greater appreciation for Francophone culture, in Part I of the project, they are to research a famous Francophone and write a biography on that person. In the list provided, there is a mix of contemporary and historical figures, men and women, and visible minorities that students can select from. The project guidelines and guiding questions are in both English and French (this is in order to avoid any possible confusion and to make the project accessible to all French learners in the Core French classroom). The project comes with guiding questions, a checklist, a vocabulary bank, and two rubrics- one for each component of the project.
Part II of the project consists of a French café in which two to three students are to get together (as their famous Francophone character) and create a skit, with costumes and props, in which the characters would meet and have a conversation. Students would be required to take on aspects of their character's personality and converse in French with the other Francophone characters.
