In this Promethean ActivInspire activity, students blend words at the syllable level. Students are presented with pictures representing one-syllable words; they blend them to create a new, two-syllable word. Therefore, this lesson could also be used for blending compound words. This activity was created using one-syllable base words deliberately so that the activity could be used for phonological awareness (blending) without any phonics (a picture was necessary to represent each syllable). There is a hidden reveal feature to display each answer word.
See also the lesson titled, "Promethean: Blending Syllables," in the Literacy with Promethean store for an activity blending syllables that are not base words - a phonics activity.
A complete lesson plan is embedded in the flipchart.
