As a resource team, we'll be throwing a special celebration of cultures around the world!
In anticipation of this, the week before our celebration, I wanted to focus on diversity and different cultures with the students. I chose to use these two books to read aloud to students, then complete the center activities.
Whoever You Are by Mem Fox (K-2)
The Crayon Box that Talked by Shane DeRolf (3-5)
Center activities in this packet include:
*labeling continents (two different versions)
*finding countries (Canada, USA, Netherlands, Russia, Australia, Africa - Senegal, Mali, Guinea, and Brazil)
*students identify and use the flags and cultural dress of these countries to label a map
*coloring page of traditional dress
*completing puzzle pieces that show "who you are" (your culture, your likes, etc) and then putting them together in a hallway display to show the diversity of our school
