This resource provides an effective, low-stress way to examine the demands of personal narrative and expository prompts. The suggestions can be used as an introduction or a review of:
* how to interpret the demands of a prompt
* how to select a personally significant topic to write about.
Students will anticipate the STAAR writing test with confidence after completing these easy-to-follow activities designed to be used in the few weeks preceding the assessment.
Included are printable sorting mats and prompt cards for each student, a Good Writers color poster that summarizes characteristics of each type of prompt, and complete teacher directions.
This resource is a companion to and especially effective when used in conjunction with the 16 Narrative Prompts, 16 Expository Prompts, and An Introduction to Expository Writing (PowerPoint presentation review) also available from Everything Says Something. It is also available in English.
