Pronoun - antecedent agreement is a concept my students really struggle with. This set of worksheets, complete with a review worksheet and quiz, breaks down the idea of pronoun-antecedent agreement into three areas:
Part One: Identification of Pronouns and Antecedents
(It is assumed that students have prior knowledge of pronouns and do not need instruction in how to identify them.) This worksheet focuses on how to identify the antecedent in relation to the pronoun.
Part Two: Basics of Pronoun-Antecedent Agreement.
This worksheet provides practice in pronoun-antecedent agreement according to rules of number, gender, and person.
Part Three: Indefinite Pronoun - Antecedent Agreement.
This concept deserves special treatment because it can be so hard for students to understand. This worksheet provides practice in this area.
A two-page review that covers all three concepts is included. A quiz that matches the style of the review but with completely different questions is also part of the PDF file. An answer key for all items is included.
This item is intended to complement your instruction on these concepts. If you are seeking resources for instruction, you'll find my Pronoun-Antecedent Agreement: PowerPoint with Three Mini-Lessons
to be just what you need! Its three mini-lessons match the three concepts covered in the worksheets, review, and quiz.
The PowerPoint Mini-Lessons and the Worksheets you see here are also available as a bundle, along with all of my Pronoun-Antecedent Agreement resources!
This includes the PowerPoint, worksheets, review, quiz, task cards, and a one-page reference sheet.
