Description

Subject pronouns can be especially difficult for English language learners. Not only do they need to be able to determine the gender of the subject, pronouns don't exist in all languages. This packet includes several activities to practice subject pronoun usage:

Pg 2– pronoun cut and paste worksheet

Pg 3-4– pronoun sort cards: print, laminate, and cut them; then have students match the pronoun to the picture

Pg 5-10– Family pronouns scoot: These sentences are all about a family and are missing their pronouns. Print, laminate, and cut apart the sentence cards. Either place the cards around the room (kids scoot) or put them in a pile in the middle of a center or group (card scoot). Students then read the sentences and record the missing pronoun on their recording sheet.

Pg 11-12– Sentence cover: These sentences use too many nouns. Print, laminate, and cut out the sentence sheets and pronoun cards (there are enough card sets on pg 12 for 6 students). Then have students use the pronoun cards to cover up the underlined nouns with the correct pronouns.
