What educators are saying

It's hard to make learning fun when teaching online, and I loved that this gave my students a way to enjoy their grammar instruction. I used it for PSAT practice. Thank you!

Description

This pronouns and antecedents phrases trashketball game provides guided practice and is made to be played online, with the class, or by individual students. Follow the grammar game with a self-grading Google Form quiz (10 multiple choice questions) that can be edited by you. It must be played in "slideshow" mode.

Trashketball is a wonderful way to engage students in their learning, and although traditional trashketball games get students out of their seats, this game allows students to review their grammar concepts and “shoot” their “trashkets” virtually. They can play during online learning, hybrid learning, or in classrooms that are practicing social distancing.

The game features student and teacher instructions, review slides, and example sentences. With 15 questions, students both identify pronouns and antecedents and select pronouns for agreement.

During the game, students select their answer choices and are encouraged to try again when they make mistakes so that they can achieve mastery of appositives and appositive phrases. Students earn random points from their “trashkets” when they identify correct answers. The winner of the game is whoever has the highest cumulative score.

This game will make guided practice and learning fun!

This animated PowerPoint Presentation includes the following:

  • concept review slides
  • game slides
  • scorecard
  • link to Google Form quiz

***Important Note: This game was created before the newly accepted usage of “their” as a singular pronoun. If desired, you may want to edit questions to fit the new usage.
