Students will complete several activities to practice their pronunciation of -ed words. Answer keys are provided for easy assessment.
1. Take notes about the three different pronunciations and complete a word sort. (*notes and answer key provided)
2. Read a passage and annotate the -ed words with their proper pronunciations. (*answer key provided)
3. Find -ed words in a newspaper or magazine and glue them into a word sort.
4. Use the provided -ed word cards to complete a whole-class word sort (32 cards provided). Alternatively, these cards can be used as part of a Word Work center and completed individually or as a paired activity.
This has been a very useful - and favourite, pronunciation activity and series of lessons when I've taught adult ESL at my local university.
