This Proofreading List for Student Writing will cut your grading time in half AND provide students with meaningful feedback! The student list includes 45 rules that will help students identify and fix the most common writing errors. I compiled this list as I graded student writing over the last 17 years of my teaching career!

The Proofreading List for Student Writing includes the rules and places for students to record tally marks for each writing piece they complete throughout the school year. As students track their errors, they set goals, make revisions, and look for progress. Their writing gets stronger, and all you have to do to give powerful feedback is leave a number that corresponds with a listed rule. When you hand writing back, students check the number, make a tally mark, and make the fix. Easy and meaningful!

This product also includes a Teacher Tally sheet to track whole class progress, plan writing interventions, and set goals for instruction.
