What educators are saying

Our Ontario curriculum is worded a bit different but the resource hits what I needed to. Great resource to use in our literacy studies.
Great resource for bell ringers at the beginning of each class. We began using this towards the middle of the year to review for state testing.

Description

This set of 30 half-page proofreading, or editing, task cards gives students practice correcting common types of errors. The topics include:

punctuation

capitalization

grammar

run-on sentences

homophones

and spelling

These task cards are designed specifically for middle grade kids. The cards are large – two cards per page and have more content per card than many of the smaller task cards –perfect for older kids who can handle more than one quick question per card.

Each card provides a short assignment, most with three to four questions or sentences for students to proofread which is a great length for centers, for games such as Scoot or Footloose, for a quick review, or for independent work in spare moments. Or choose a few cards at a time for quick assessments. A few of the cards contain longer passages for the students to proofread.

Also included is a list of suggestions for ways to use task cards and a list of suggestions for easy differentiation with task cards.

The Easel Activity is a digital version that is ready to use with one card per slide. It is ready for student use with answer boxes and directions already in place.

For the Google Slides version, see Proofreading Task Cards and Google Slides.
