Here are the directions for this assignment: "Proofreading a Halloween Paragraph" "The students in an E/LA class were assigned to write a paragraph about their favorite holiday. They had to include some history of the holiday and its traditions and tell why they like this special day. The essay must also (1) have a title that is not the topic, (2) start with a topic sentence that tells the main idea, (3) retain 3rd person point of view (4) be grammatically correct, and (5) end with a summarizing clincher. Here is the rough draft of one student’s essay. Identify and correct as many errors as you can. Enjoy!"
What follows is a paragraph filled with info, but also many, many errors. Your students will have fun trying to find them all! My students always enjoy finding other people's mistakes! An answer KEY is provided (I hope I remembered all the errors I put in this paragraph!), making this lesson plan 2 pages total.
