Proofs are a very difficult topic for most students to grab. Starting off with some basic proofs after some basic geometry concepts have been introduced develops a good solid foundation. This packet gives an introduction to proofs, a good mix of the basic theorems, properties, postulates and theorems that are used in proofs. Students can follow the same structure to organize new theorems, postulates and definitions in their notebooks as the year goes on - or you can buy the next extended version! The last few pages give students some practice with the proofs they learned in the packet with a baby proof section - they complete 1 statement and provided the theorem,postulate or definition as the reason. They work towards proofs with some more steps and then they do 2 of their own proofs as they begin to master the skill.
The theorems, properties, definitions and postulates are for units that cover point, lines, planes and angles. This is before they cover triangles and other shapes but it gives them the foundation they need for those proofs and they can always refer to this packet for tips and help.
