PLEASE RATE! :) My students can recite "a squared plus b squared equals c squared" from the moment they walk into my Geometry classroom. However, they really don't understand what that means. I decided to put together different Pythagorean Theorem proofs that I could find and have my students work through them in partners.
This file contains seven proofs of the Pythagorean Theorem, one of which uses patty paper. The eighth "proof" has students watch a Khan Academy video that students will watch to try to understand the Pythagorean Theorem.
The teacher could divide the class into groups/partners and have each group tackle one proof, write it on poster paper and present it to the class.
The answers to all proofs are included.
