This is a lesson that extends a lesson on propaganda for students. It utilizes political ads from the past to apply student knowledge of propaganda to those political ads. This is a lesson that delves into critical thinking skills while testing recall memory at the same time. Students will find often a lively discussion results from not only the ads but also whether or not the propaganda worked and if it was legitimate. With the 2012 elections approaching, it is even more appropriate to bring in ads that are currently being run. You will need a smartboard or computer attached to a digital projector. It is attached as a pdf file and includes instructions on how to run the lesson as well as a handout that includes classroom exercises and homework.
