Beneath every pencil's hard wood exterior is a soft and fragile core. Every classroom drummer bangs them, every careless students lets them roll off the table and every excited artist throws away their cardboard case at first use! All these choices lead to an abused pencil. When the lead inside the wood cast breaks, it falls out at every sharpen. Even the longest pencil will fail our task if it has been broken up inside.
This handout warns us to properly treat our pencils with care or they will no longer work successfully for us.
If you use pencils in your class, your students need this handout.
