Product Description
This product contains an activity to help students practice the properties/laws of exponents, including product, quotient, zero and negative exponents. This is perfect for 8th grade pre-algebra or Algebra I. Questions vary in difficulty, some are easy and some are more difficult so some teacher support may be necessary.

The scavenger hunt can be used in groups or individually. These cards can be printed four to a page or on a whole page to be posted around the room! I suggest laminating them so you can use them over and over again! These will look best in color, but will also print out in grayscale. The preview shows multiple pages on one, however, the actual document comes on full pages!

Included:
-Cover Sheet
-Answer Document
-Printing instructions for making large or small cards
-16 questions on the properties/laws of exponents

Directions:
Print the scavenger hunt cards, cut apart and laminate if you would like.

Explain to students that there are 3 parts to every card:
1. a letter that must be recorded each time students visit a new card
2. a problem to solve
3. a answer to another problem.

Tell students to record the letter written on the top of their first card in box 1 on their answer sheets. Students can start at any question. Explain that they will also write the problem on the card in box 1 and solve. The answers to their first card will guide students to their next card. When students find their answer on another card, they record the next letter, solve the problem, and look for the answer on another card. This process will continue until students get back to the card they started with. When finished, the letters in the should be in the correct order. The last card should circle back to the first card.

Have students read the order of the letters to check their work.

Method 1: Hang the cards around your classroom in a random order. They can be put in ABC order, but do not leave them in the order shown. Put students in groups or with partners. Have each group choose a different card to start with. Students can use their answer recording document to record questions and solutions.

Method 2: Create cards for each group. Have students work in small groups at a desks instead of moving around the room. Students can arrange the cards into the correct ordered at their seats, but using the same concepts of if they were to move around the room.
