Prior to this activity, we learned about what matter is made up of, the four states of matter, and how the particles behave in each state of matter. In this activity students will focus primarily on gases. They will identify the gas phase of matter by its properties.
Each student is given his own packet. We work through parts 1-6 together as a whole group. Exploration includes demonstrations, interactive whole group activities, and short video clips. Students follow along with the PowerPoint presentation which gives a visual representation of the concepts covered and additional examples to analyze. Students will apply what they have learned in this activity in part 7.
Properties covered include: diffusion, expansion, pressure, low density, compression
