I used this small unit to help my students record their observations as we examined the physical properties of popcorn kernels, chocolate, and apples. After examining the physical properties of these objects we applied heat and discussed the changes in the matter. The vocabulary cards can be used to help reinforce the words and their meanings. You will need an air popper for the popcorn, a crock-pot for the apples, and a hot plate for the chocolate. The kids loved observing the changes and were able to experience the physical properties of each of the objects. Of course, tasting it makes it even better. Please email me if you have any questions.
