Properties of Matter Includes: Animated PowerPoint, Six Page Flip Book, 24 Task Cards, Writing Assignment, and Vocabulary Word Cards for your Word Wall. This lesson builds on the previous Changes in States of Matter Lesson. Students will be engaged in the animated PowerPoint and complete notes in their Matter flip book that follow the PowerPoint. Students will list some physical properties of matter, and be introduced to the four general properties that all matter has: mass, volume, weight, and density. Students will calculate volume, weight, and density. The task cards include questions and some hand-on activities where they will determine mass, volume: liquid, solid (regular & irregular), and determine density. The lesson also includes density and weight triangles that students will make and use for calculations. Teachers have a six page directions and printing guide with photos of student completed work. The flip book that students will be complete has two options for teachers a wider 8” book and a slimmer 6” book that can be glued into interactive notebooks. The included Exit/Entrance ticket and task cards will allow students to demonstrate understanding of this important concept.
Teachers will appreciate the six pages of directions and print instructions, as well as the vocabulary cards for your classroom Word Wall. Teachers will have much flexibility with this product choosing what size flip book to use, how to use the “Writing in Science” assignment, and the included edible task cards. Appropriate for grades 5-8.
This will be a lesson you will want to use year after year!
