The Properties of Matter Unit from SciFi Mama includes an introduction to properties mini-lab, a notes/lecture powerpoint about the properties of matter, a properties of matter lab, a properties of matter rummy card game, and a 5-day set of properties of matter bellringer powerpoints. This unit combines all of my properties of matter resources that are each sold separately, with the addition of the introductory mini-lab (only available in the unit).
The introductory mini-lab includes a powerpoint presentation, designed to be used with an interactive whiteboard, and a printable student page that will fit into a composition (or larger) interactive notebook. This activity is an observation lab that introduces students to the concept of properties.
The Properties of Matter Notes file includes a powerpoint with basic information about the properties and units of matter and the tools and equations used to measure them. A student fill-in notes printable is included.
The Properties of Matter Lab includes instructions to set up the lab, printable lab station/center signs and student instructions, and a printable student lab report. The lab includes several variations and explores the basic properties of matter using basic lab tools.
The Properties of Matter Rummy review card game is a fun, tactile way to reinforce students' knowledge of the properties and units of matter and the tools and equations used to measure them. The file includes a powerpoint presentation that visually instructs students how to play the game. It includes a pdf with the printable cards and printable student instructions as well.
The Chalkboard Check-ups file is a 5-day bellringer or ticket-out-the-door activity that provides a quick, multiple choice formative assessment of students' knowledge of the properties of matter.
