This is a sorting activity that can be used in many different ways within the classroom. Two versions of the sort are included. The first version is a completed sort that can be cut and laminated prior to using it with students. The second version, "All Mixed-Up," has the properties, definitions, and examples all mixed up on the table so that students aren't given the advantage of the pieces being arranged correctly. With the second version, there is also a "blank" piece for each property. This is intended for students to write their own example.
This activity can be used when teaching the concept in third grade, a review activity in upper grades, and an enrichment activity in lower grades.
