This graphic organizer was designed to be done after students complete notes about the basic properties of sound relating to loudness (shown by amplitude) and pitch (shown by frequency). It can also be done as students complete notes using their textbook or other resources as a way to check that students understood what they read.
Students will draw four sound waves wave and describe what they drew
in complete sentences (sentence prompts are included). This helps different learning styles remember the information better.
I find some of my ELL and SPED students still need lots of practice identifying parts of a wave so this requires students to practice identifying basic parts of a transverse wave (sound is a longitudinal wave but it's hard for many students to draw and ID parts on a longitudinal wave, which is why we are doing transverse - the directions clarify this for students)
An answer key with sample drawn waves and correct corresponding sentences is included to make grading easy for you.
