This worksheet is designed to replace a lecture on the topic of learning about the properties of parallelograms, rectangles, rhombi, and squares. (F13 means Fall 2013; I abbreviated it that way to limit the name of the file to 80 characters).
I start out class with a 15-minute "mini-lesson," giving my students some basic examples of what today's lesson will be about. Once the mini-lesson is over, I have them get to work within their groups on this worksheet.
Note: when students are working on the rhombus, students will look to you for guidance about what the diagonals do: in a rhombus, the triangles are congruent right triangles, and in a square, they are congruent, right, isosceles triangles.
I use this activity within cooperative groups, and I circulate to make sure they are getting the purpose of the questions.
