To demonstrate understanding of proportional relationships, students create scenarios for a proportional relationship and a non-proportional relationship and then create a table and a graph for each scenario. Students must explain what makes their scenario proportional or not proportional. I use this as an assessment in class. It could also be used as homework, review or a project in the classroom.
A modified version of the assignment is also included for students that need additional support.
